Acme Flare Gun

This Flare gun is shown in Gaynor's book with a brief description. I have been unable to find any other reference to it. Mine has a different trigger guard and no serial number. The only markings are a pair of slashes on the lower barrel lug and frame.

Any information, such as where and when it was made, production volumes etc would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Tony, This also is a pretty rare flare pistol. I believe these were batch numbered, as I have never seen a serial above 20. Yours is a serial number 11. I also own a serial number 11. I am just guessing, but I believe there were probably 100 to 200 of these manufactured, as I have seen about 15 different examples in 45 years. There are actually two slightly different versions that I have seen. The Grips on these are VERY FRAGILE, and have been chipped or broken on almost every example seen.

Do not know much more about them. Any help out there ??
