rare very early russian flare pistol

Post by bergler »

Here is a very early russian flare pistol. It was converted from the S&W Mod 1872 Revolver which was manufactured under license and shipped in larger quantities by Loewe of Berlin as well. If these were used for the conversions or others I do not know. The frame is made of steel, the barrel of brass. The gun is made of exceptional quality and must have cost a fortune to produce. There is not one marking on this gun. The caliber is similar to the standard cal4 (26,5 mm), but a bit smaller in diameter. The rim is thinner as well, it was definately not made for cal4. Another detail to mention is the hammer. It is not made of one piece like the Hebels or other earlier flare guns, but the firing pin sits in the frame and the hammer falls onto it. The condition of this gun is remarkable good for it´s age. It is definately one of the best in my collection ;-)

On my example, there is a Russian eagle stamped on the frame and a serial number. Unfortunately, I am not sure that my camera is good enough to frame them.

Hi

This is the one in my collection. It's a small caliber and the barrel is made of iron. The serialnumber is # 3302.

Best regards
